Recurrent Events Update: 'Castlevania' Animated Series, Gremlins 3 Update, Run-D.M.C. Sues Retailers

Welcome to the Recurrent Events weekly news update for retro pop culture headlines, links, videos, and more! Happy New Year's Eve! If you are like me, you've never been so happy to turn the page onto a new year. This past week was excruciatingly hard for '80s pop culture fans with the passing of Carrie Fisher and George Michael. It's never easy to say goodbye to industry icons but it was even more painful during the holiday season. That's not to say 2017 won't be filled with some heartbreak, but hopefully not to the extent we experienced this year. Be safe as you celebrate 2017 tonight!

So what did RD80s do in 2016 you might ask? Not much, other than posting 272 articles and having nearly a million page visits! #Mindblown I'm truly humbled and excited over the growth from this past year. It's a true testament to what I put behind this site each day AND the loyal followers which make it all worth while. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

One goal I did have for the RD80s in 2016 was to review more stuff. I did accomplish that in retrospect to previous years but not to the extent that I had hoped. With the help of some friends, I did post 7 game reviews, 9 comic and book reviews, 7 toy reviews, and a few movie/TV reviews. That's pretty good but I'd like to review even more in 2017. If you are interesting in helping out, let me know! I also hosted 9 giveaways in 2016 and hope to maintain that next year as well.

Here are some recent RD80s articles posted in cased you missed them:
Laughing Squid introduced this stop-motion Super Mario Bros. video to me this week. What's so special about this one? They used Rubik's cubes to create it. #MindBlown
