Recurrent Events Update: 'Dirty Dancing' Returning to Theaters, 'Ducktales' Cast Revealed, John Cena Is The New Johnny Lawrence

Welcome to the Recurrent Events weekly news update for retro pop culture headlines, links, videos, and more! Christmas is now just 8 days away! I'm very excited as we will be visiting family in Florida. As I've done in year's past, I have a fun article lined up for Christmas Day where I go on a shopping spree through the Sears Wish Book. This year, it's 1989 and time to upgrade my stereo in preparation for my Columbia House CD collection in the '90s!

I hope you enjoyed the '80s Christmas collaboration event posted this week. I had a real blast putting together the article and podcasting with my pal Wyatt on Memory Jogger. If you are subscribed to the RD80s podcast feed, you might have noticed the main artwork changed. If not, I've got a new music-based show debuting in January where I'll be diving into a pool of unpopular '80s music. I grew up on Top 40 countdowns and greatest hits albums that I feel liked I've missed out on alot of great music and I want to discover more tracks that weren't mainstream along with album cuts that were never released. I might be a little excited for the new Ducktales series since this is the second straight week its been topic of best video. Disney just released the casting for the new series in a fun unique way...they all sing the theme song!!
