The Weekly Links returns with a double dose of '80s nostalgia! After taking a 2,000 mile "drive-cation" last week to visit my family, I've got 2 weeks worth of links stored up that's begging to be clicked. Keep in mind that if this retro ride becomes to much for you, just roll down the window and get some fresh air. Here's what I learned in the past TWO weeks:
- Denny's restaurants have teamed up with Atari to give us "Hashteroids".
- Save your money on GNR's new 3D concert film and go buy "Appetite" on vinyl when Axl didn't sound out of breath.
- Over-analyzing song lyrics is fun. Here's what I came up over at UnderScoopFire for Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer".
- ALF preferred Marvel over DC Comics. Here's the proof.
- Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is much more intimidating when it features real life quotes.
- I watched G.I. Joe Retaliation the other night and realized they replaced the "Yo Joe!" battle cry with "Hoo-wah." Can some please tell the writer of G.I. Joe 3 to do his homework?
- With Batman and Ghostbusters getting all the anniversary headlines, Bernie's corpse silently turned 25 recently and apparently noone cares.
- Garbage Pail Kids will be at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
- There is now a complete guide and map for every place Harry met Sally.
- Vinyl is making a comeback. If you don't believe me, check out these statistics.
- MacGyver Deadly Descent is actually a pretty decent mobile app.
The video of the week (or two weeks) comes from the PBS series "It's Okay To Be Smart" which I found via The A.V. Club. We all did it. We all thought it worked. Dust gets in Nintendo cartridges and prevents the little contacts from connecting correctly. So naturally we need to blow it out. Well according to this video, our brains were playing tricks on us...
