New Action Comedy 'Turbo Kid' Mashes Mad Max With BMX

In the vein of the recent film Kung Fury comes another bloody, throwback action comedy that sure to please '80s fans. Turbo Kid is a post-apocalyptic film that mashes up Mad Max and BMX Bandits into one retro-laced adventure. The film is set to debut in theaters August 28 after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and wining the audience award at SXSW earlier this year. In a post-apocalyptic future, THE KID (Munro Chambers), a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named APPLE (Laurence Leboeuf). Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, ZEUS (Michael Ironside), the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, plagues THE KID and APPLE. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, THE KID learns of justice and friendship and embarks on an incredible journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.

This looks like a real fun movie for fans of '80s R-rated action films. Michael Ironside portraying the main villain and the killer synthwave soundtrack by Le Matos should also give this film an extra measure of throwback.
