Paul Feig, director of the new Ghostbusters reboot, has slowly revealed several elements about the film on his Twitter account over the past couple weeks. He's shown us the new uniforms, proton packs, and set photos of the gals in action. The reveal I've been eagerly awaiting was given last night.
Earlier this year, I came up with five possibilities for Ecto-1 in the new movie. My ideal vision was a clunky 1984 station wagon which I thought would be the ultimate tribute to the original film. Well, I practically got my wish! Take a look at the new Ecto-1...
I love it! It appears to be a 1984 Cadillac hearse! The classic logo is back which made me happy. The big revolving light on the roof is glorious. The equipment and small ladder on the side also return. Plus the hood ornament is a ghost which is great! Feig has also posted what appears to be the before picture as well...
I can't tell you how excited I am now. I've have mixed feelings since the announcement, especially with all these other rumors about more sequels that have circulated over the past several months. Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies and one of the first movies I saw in the theater as a kid. For the 30th anniversary last year, I had an awesome experience of taking my oldest son when it was re-released to theaters.
With all the elements that have been revealed so far, I feel much better about the new film. With all the remakes that Hollywood throws at us nowadays, it's rare to have all the elements from the original. So far, the reboot has checked off many of the items on my wish list. If they can add cameos of the original actors to show their support, I think my list will be complete.
For the record, I'm officially on board and anxious now to see the first trailer. My expectations have been raised pretty high so I'm hoping the new movie will deliver on what seems to be the best possible scenario for the franchise. What are your thoughts on the new Ecto-1? Has your opinion changed since the reboot was first announced?
